The Christmas Market

Last weekend was the Marché de Noël, also known at the “foire aux dindes” at the neigboring town of Seés. The music of the French countryside was in the air — musette and the fanfare of hunting horns…Here local people come to buy their Christmas turkey — and take it home so they can fatten it up. We also admired heritage breeds of chickens and handsome geese, quail, pheasants, and ducks. There were lace tablecloths and umbrellas, women’s sweaters, grandfather clocks, rolls of waxed cloth for table tops. And we couldn’t leave without a helping of hot crispy “frites”!
